Nightingale

Nightingale is a cocktail tomato bred by Karen Olivier, an independent tomato breeder and registered nurse with a 40-year career in critical care, emergency, transplant, and peri-operative nursing. Selected in 2020 — during the International Year of the Nurse, the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale, and the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — this variety was named in honor of nurses and healthcare workers around the world.

Growth Characteristics

Tall, vigorous plants with large potato leaves and strong disease tolerance. Productive and resilient, best grown with staking or trellising for optimal fruit set.

Fruit Description

A pale yellow “white” tomato (clear epidermis) in a true cocktail size—an unusually rare colour class for this format. The fruits have thick walls, giving them the firm, meaty texture of a slicer in a smaller form. They hold shape beautifully and provide striking contrast in mixed pints.

Sweet and citrusy, with bright, clean notes that balance sugar and acid.
