Originating from a family heirloom in Minervino Murge, Puglia, these peppers stood out among 60 trialed varieties for their exceptional flavor and thin skins, earning their name which means "sweet pepper from Minervino."

Evolution and Cultivation:
Initially grown alongside the Golden Treasure variety, natural cross-pollination introduced orange variants. Embracing this diversity, Fred Hempel continued to select seeds from the best red and orange peppers each season, developing a vibrant landrace that maintains the original flavors.
