Kenneth's Piennolo

Kenneth's Piennolo is a select tomato variety, developed from the Piennolo-Del-Vesuvio type and selectively bred by Kenneth Nilsson, a noted collaborator with acclaimed breeder Fred Hempel. This variety is characterized by its small fruit, which grows on indeterminate potato-leaf plants known for their spindly yet surprisingly productive nature.

Growth Characteristics
Despite their delicate appearance, Kenneth's Piennolo plants mature their fruits approximately 65 days after transplantation. While the plants thrive under typical conditions, they tend to underperform in extreme heat, which may limit their geographical cultivation range.

Fruit Description
The tomatoes are small, firm, and known for their longevity post-harvest, making them ideal for both immediate consumption and extended storage. This durability is especially valued in market settings where shelf life is crucial.

Flavor Profile
Renowned for their sweet flavor with a significant depth, Kenneth's Piennolo tomatoes are highly versatile in the kitchen. They are excellent in fresh salads or can enhance the flavor of cooked dishes such as pasta, where their richness comes to the forefront.

Agricultural Attributes
Given their wispy growth habit, these plants may require staking or support to manage their productive branches. This variety is especially suited for growers in cooler climates or those specializing in niche tomato varieties for discerning culinary markets.

Kenneth's Piennolo offers a unique blend of practical agricultural traits and exceptional culinary quality, marking it as an excellent choice for growers and chefs alike seeking a distinctive, flavorful tomato variety.
